What YOU can do NOW to help your son or daughter prepare for the 21st Century Workforce!
- Talk to your son or daughter about their career aspirations.
- Assist your teen or young adult identify interests, talents and strengths.
- Be involved in your teen or young adult’s career planning process and start early by helping him or her identify relevant high school course work.
- Assist him or her to research career interests:
- What is the outlook for the industry?
- What skills, knowledge, and abilities are required?
- What education and training are required?
- Are there job shadow, volunteer, internship or employment opportunities available to learn more about what the work environment is like?
- Cover the bases! Help your teen or young adult to identify a career plan based on a variety of entry points (after high school, advanced training, 2 year colleges, and 4 year colleges).
