What’s Job Shadowing?
Job Shadowing is a great way for you to ‘test drive’ a career you are interested in by observing people working on the job.
Job shadowing offers you an opportunity to ask questions about what people like and don’t like about their job. Is your career interest going to exist by the time you complete your education and/or advanced training program? What kind of salary can you expect? You can also ask questions about the specific skills and knowledge required for the job.
How to get involved:
Search our Get Connected! database to learn which local employers offer job shadowing opportunities.
Watch Virtual Job Shadowing Online. Logon to www.careervoyages.com to watch career videos of people talking about what it’s like to work in a particular job.
Talk to your teacher or guidance counselor to let them know that you are interested in a job shadowing opportunity.
Find out if your school offers a Junior Achievement (JA) program. JA works with schools and businesses to offer students a variety of programs that can help in the preparation of a career journey. Ask your teacher to find out if your school offers a JA program, contact the local office at Central Florida Junior Achievement.
Are you enrolled in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) class or program at school? If so, talk to your teacher about job shadowing opportunities or visit Brevard Public School’s Career and Technical Education website at www.brevardcte.edu
